Although the Ford Ranger model is not as well-known as the F-150, the Ford Ranger has been around for most of the American motor company’s history. The 2020 Ford Ranger is a mid-size truck built for the new decade, but without the dizzying number of trim levels you would find with the larger models in the F-series.
The 2020 Ford Ranger’s Three Trim Levels
The 2020 Ford Ranger comes in three distinct trim levels. This may not seem like a lot, but the XL, XLT, and LARIAT trim levels can be customized in two ways. Each trim level comes with one of two cab types, and one of two drive types. The extended SuperCrew® allows for an extra seat, but sacrifices space from the truck bed. The SuperCab has smaller interior space, but a greater payload capability. Each trim level has an available 4×4 drive for those with off-road plans for their new Ford Ranger.
Safety Options by Trim Level
Neither the XL, XLT nor the LARIAT beats any of the other trim levels in terms of airbags. Each version of the 2020 Ford Ranger has Front, Driver, and Passenger airbags, Safety Canopy® side curtains, and seat-mounted side airbags. Every SuperCrew® version of the truck features child-proof rear-door-locks. In short, none of the trim levels falls short on safety technology.
Price and Performance by Trim Level
While the XL, XLT, and LARIAT versions of the 2020 Ford Ranger all come with the same engine under the hood, it’s the other features of the car that make for the difference in MSRP. Considering only the 4×2 drive and SuperCab® versions of each trim level, the MSRP is as follows:
- 2020 Ford Ranger XL: $24,410
- 2020 Ford Ranger XLT: 28,460
- 2020 Ford Ranger LARIAT: $32,500
